The scene - a coffee shop in Asheville, NC. Josh and Matt set up at an out-of-the-way table and proceed to record an entire podcast episode without anyone noticing. At least they didn't notice if anyone noticed!
Josh had just spent a few days in Asheville on vacation. Matt lives very close to Asheville, so they took the opportunity to meet up, push record and see what happened.
In the end, they talked about coffee, techniques to engage an audience or guests, takeaways from visiting the Biltmore Estate, and irreverent signs that invite you into a business. Llamas may have also been mentioned.

Each year, Matt and two friends meet-up for Coaster Nerd Con (CNC), their own little convention for nerdy coaster riding. This year, the trio headed west to California. The parks and attractions they visited were: Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier, Knott's Berry Farm, Warner Bros. Studio Tour, Universal Studios Hollywood, Six Flags Magic Mountain, California's Great America, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom and Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.
In this episode, Matt reveals which park had the best guest service, as well as his favorite coaster of the trip. He also shares 5 major lessons that he took away from this experience. They are:
- It all starts with your attitude and a quote from Henry Ford, "whether you think you can or you think you can't, you're right."
- The waiting experience at your attraction could be having a bigger impact in the overall guest experience than you think.
- It's not enough for us to be employers, we must also be educators.
- Parks who started off as twins had very different journeys.
- It's probably time to re-think incentive programs and replace them with "inspiration programs."

Audrey (AJ) and Kevin Jowett are the owners of Revolution Off Road Adventures, a 230 acre playground in Clermont, FL dedicated to getting people outside and testing their limits (without going too crazy!). In this episode, both Kevin and Audrey join us to give us some background on how Revolution Off Road started (including the business plan that lasted two days!), their efforts to market the attraction in the formative years, and their relationship with Polaris. They also discuss some of the challenges facing the industry, both foreign and domestic, and how even smaller operators can get involved and make a difference.
